Danish Pork processor, Danish Crown has been approved to export pork products to China. Owned by Tulip Food Company, it can now export three categories of processed food to the country. The approval is expected to grow to a value of €36m per annum.
Swiss cheese exports rose 2% to 71,600t – valued at CH628m (€544m) – after a strong second half compensated for a slight decline in the first half of the year. Eighty percent of the volume went to the EU. Sales outside Europe increased by 4.8%.
The average dairy herd size in New Zealand fell by five cows to 414 in 2016-2017. The most common herd size is 200 to 249 cows, with a little over 50% of herds having between 100 and 349 cows. Only 5% had 1,000 cows or more.

German GDP grew a further 0.6% in the fourth quarter last year. That means growth for the calendar year was 2.5%, up from 1.9% in 2016 and the fastest pace of growth since 2010. It is expected that growth in Europe’s largest economy has accelerated so far in 2018.
