Farmers are guaranteed to receive €630m in crucial farm payments in 2021, the Irish Farmers Journal can reveal.

Minister for Agriculture Charlie McConalogue has secured funding for schemes such as GLAS, the BDGP, ANC, Sheep Welfare and TAMS next year, after the European Commission gave the green light to the Department of Agriculture in recent days.

Some 48,000 farmers in GLAS will receive €202m next year, while €40m BDGP money will be paid to beef and suckler farmers. €80m in TAMS funding is added to the ANC, Sheep Welfare Scheme, the Burren Programme, Forestry and Organics funds that have been safeguarded.

A rollover of €250m in ANC money for 90,000 farmers was previously confirmed by Minister McConalogue.

Addressing the Dáil on Tuesday night, the minister confirmed that the Rural Development Programme rollover had been approved by the European Commission.

“I am pleased to advise that approval was received for the extension of contracts under GLAS, BDGP, the Burren Programme and the Organic Farming Scheme,” he said, adding that farmers whose contracts end soon will be contacted by the Department.
