Grass seed company Germinal dropped the guillotine on its Irish boss last week. The position of general manager at the Tipperary-based company has been made redundant, with Dermot Campion as the main casualty.

Campion spent 20 years with the company and the redundancy decision has sent shockwaves through the trade.

The Dealer hears Campion’s duties will now be handled by Belfast-based boss William Gilbert, whose family owns the company.

Germinal’s Jim Gibbons is also set to retire at the end of the year.
