The closed period for hedge-cutting and vegetation burning ends this Saturday, 1 September.

The Heritage Act passed in July introduces flexibility for some hedge-cutting in August and burning in March, subject to regulations yet to be made by Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Josepha Madigan.

“Work is under way in the Department on the preparation of the necessary regulations and guidelines,” a spokesperson for the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht told the Irish Farmers Journal.
