More than 1,200 farmers have attended Irish Farmers Journal SOS events over the past 10 days. The events, which have been organised as part of the Save Our Sucklers campaign in association with the Irish Farmers Association, have packed out the venues so far.

Farmers have heard Irish Farmers Journal livestock specialists, the IFA, AI stations, Teagasc, ICBF and local vets speak on a range of timely topics. Numerous topics have been discussed including the upcoming Mercosur trade deal, Brexit, CAP budget and the €200 support payment. There is widespread support for the campaign. Unfortunately, the demonstration which was due to take place in Ennis mart last night was postponed until Wednesday 14 March due to poor weather. Our next event takes place in Castleisland Mart in Kerry on Tuesday 6 March. Next week is a busy week, with three SOS events taking place:
Castleisland Mart, Tuesday 6 March 7pm-9pm.
Athenry Mart, Thursday 8 March 7pm-9pm
Elphin Mart Friday 9 March 7pm-9pm
Expo
The livestock team will also be attending the Carroll Consultancy beef expo in the McWilliam Park Hotel next Wednesday evening 7th March. SOS petitions are available to sign at all venues and all events are KT approved.
