Like last week, agents were actively sourcing good-quality livestock. There was another good entry of stock on offer. Heavy, short-keep cattle were a very strong trade again, with agents and finishers actively buying.

Bullocks over 600kg sold mainly from €2.20/kg to €2.40/kg for average-quality types, with better-quality bullocks selling easily from €850 to more than €1,000 over. Most of the heavy bullocks on offer were good quality R + and U grade Charolais and Limousins. There was a share of Angus on offer at similar weights and these were met with strong demand also.

Prices ranged mainly from €2.40/kg to €2.60/kg, similar to last week. Top-quality U grades sold from €2.60/kg to €2.70/kg.

Heifers were a strong trade, although bullocks were slightly hotter at times. The best trade was for god-quality continental heifers with the most demand for Charolais and Limousin types. Heifers over 500kg were the best trade, with feeder demand keeping a firm floor under prices.
Prices ranged mainly from €2.25/kg to €2.35/kg or from €700 to €800 over the weight, with top-quality U grade heifers making from €820 over and upwards. Heifers from 400kg to 500kg were a strong trade, with farmers active along with dealers.
