An injured lamb was rescued by a good Samaritan on Slieve Binnian, in the Mourne Mountains, Co Down, this week.

Patrick McManus was hiking when he discovered the unfortunate lamb. Despite not being from a farming background, McManus didn’t hesitate to carry the lamb to safety.

“I carried him on my shoulders down the mountain. It was about 45 minutes,” McManus told the Irish Farmers Journal. “The lamb is still alive. It turned out he had badly dislocated shoulder.”

The lamb was treated for his injuries in the Mourne Veterinary Clinic, and will be rested for the next few weeks.

Fortunately, the lamb’s owner was found and the lamb will be returned to him once he has recovered.
