This week sees the launch of the Irish Farmers Journal MartBids Weanling Watch pages. Over the next 12 weeks, the Irish Farmers Journal livestock team will be increasing its coverage of weanling sales both in print and online.

The next three months are the busiest months of the year for weanling sales, with thousands of weanlings changing hands over the next few months. Our MartBids database will give Irish Farmers Journal readers unrivalled coverage of marts.

For farmers selling weanlings, we’ll have the latest up-to-the-minute sales data on what your animals are worth. The livestock team will be visiting marts all across the country to bring you photos, videos and podcasts about weanling prices, the general trade and where it’s going, along with exporter activity, to enable farmers to make decisions about selling.

Weanling sales have started off really well, with MartBids data showing prices for the top third of weanlings are up €0.20/kg in early sales.
