The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has confirmed that a farm fatality occurred in Co Kilkenny yesterday.

The fatality occurred near Sevensisters, Co Kilkenny, and the incident is believed to have involved an attack from a cow.

“It appears from the initial report that the incident involved livestock, but the HSA is sending inspectors to the scene to ascertain exactly what happened,” a HSA spokesperson told the Irish Farmers Journal.

According to the HSA, this would be the fourth farm fatality this year.

Figures from the HSA showed that between 2010 and 2017, 13% of all farm fatalities were caused by livestock, with up to half of them caused as a result from an attack from a cow or heifer.
