A 124.7ac residential farm in Co Monaghan has sold at auction, in lots, for €4.1m. The farm at Monanny, on the outskirts of Carrickmacross, had a fine two-storey house.
The property was offered by auctioneers Raymond Potterton in lots only and not in the entire. However, the three lots were in the end bought by the same buyer.
Lot 1, the five-bedroom Victorian residence on 2.7ac, opened at €350,000 and was bid up to €370,000, where it held. Lot 2, the farmyard and 98ac, was then offered and opened at €1.5m. A series of €50,000 bids brought the price to €2m, where it too was held.
Lot 3, a 24ac parcel, opened at €350,000 and climbed to €410,000, before being held.
The combination of Lots 1 and 2 were then offered, opening at €2.4m. Bidding in the room and online pushed the figure to €3.05m. After further bidding on individual lots, the combination of Lots 1 and 2 was again offered, opening at €3.1m and rising to €3.15m. It was then placed on the market and, after competitive bidding, the hammer fell at €3.6m.
Finally, Lot 3 was re-offered and sold at €500,000. The buyer of the three lots is a businessman with farming interests.
