DEAR SIR: Well done on the Beef Summit. While it was difficult, I believe it captured the state of both the suckler and beef sectors of the industry, and thanks to the Irish Farmers Journal for presenting a forum to express the situation.
While all the concerns have been raised, it will have been futile if all segments of the industry don’t come together to formulate a structured plan to see how we can address the problems.
We need to ensure we have a vibrant, profitable suckler sector which is going to maintain farmers, jobs and a population in rural Ireland.
