The network to be built under the National Broadband Plan to deliver high-speed internet to rural ireland will be owned by a private entity after 25 years.
The National Broadband Plan (NBP) will be operated by a private entity which will fully own the network after 25 years, Minister for Communications Denis Naughten has announced.
The Gap Funding model which was decided upon in Cabinet will see a company from the private sector financing, building, owning and operating the network with contractual obligations to the Department.
