Listowel Writers Week will be held from 31 May until 4 June. Founded in 1970, it is Ireland’s oldest literary and arts festival.

There will be a variety of workshops and events with writers, poets, historians, singers and others. Curated by Stephen Connolly, it gives aspiring writers, novelists and poets a chance to enjoy the work of others and to learn. The festival will showcase works through literary panel discussions, moderated talks, poetry readings, interviews, cultural tours, walks and more. Featuring Paul Brady, Liz Nugent, Stephen Rea, Louise Kennedy, Richard Ford, Yan Ge, Paul Muldoon, Tess Gunty, Wendy Erskine, Nick Laird, Victoria Kennefick, Claire Kilroy and many more.

The festival also includes The National Children’s Literacy Festival, which consists of writing workshops, quizzes, facepainting, pantomimes, street performers and readings from children’s authors. There is also a young adult bookfest at the festival aimed at fifth- and sixth-year students.

The festival will be held in a variety of venues in Listowel which can be found online or in the festival brochure.
