Musical

Midsummer – 8 June: A contemporary riff on Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Midsummer charts the fluctuations in a relationship between two unique lovers in their mid-30s; Bob, a small-time crook who once aspired to rock stardom, and Helena, a divorce lawyer, who is having an affair with a married man. Punctuated by wistful, wry songs full of geographical co-ordinates and maps of the heart, it is emotionally underpinned by the thrilling possibility that we can take our own lives in hand and reinvent ourselves. This musical will take place at the Project Arts Centre in Dublin city. Tickets are €18 for adults and €16 for students. Visit www.projectartscentre.ie for more information.

Comedy

Dermot & Dave – 7 June: Today FM duo Dermot Whelan and Dave Moore have already performed to full houses all over Ireland in 2016 and 2017, and now they bring their bonkers comedy antics to the INEC Gleneagle Hotel in Killarney, Co Kerry. When asked what people can expect from their new stand up show they said: “We sing, we dance, we take our tops off and there’s even more craic and lunacy than last time.” Even though the show is new, you needn’t fear, all of the lads’ favourite characters will make a return, including internet sensation Noni, Limerick’s infamous chocolate seller and Tony ‘Club Classic’ Cascarino. Tickets are €31, See www.gleneaglehotel.com
