Following the recent news regarding the end of the road for Mazzotti brand and John Deere’s M Series self-propelled sprayers, Deere showcased its latest 500R self-propelled sprayer series.
On display was the 550R which has recently been succeeded as the flagship model by the new 560R.
The updated range now comprises the 540R (4,000l), 550R (5,000l) and 560R (6,000l).
The new 500R series incorporates proven John Deere components, like the 285hp engine from the 6R 250 tractor, PowrSpray technology from the R900i trailed sprayer, the cab from the X9 combine series and suspension from the R41 self-propelled sprayer.
The PowrSpray system features a 1,200l/min filling pump, a 1,000l/min spraying pump and a 70l induction hopper.
The 550R has a 50km/h transmission with an 80ccwheel motor at each corner.
Anti-stall and anti-slip functions improve performance on hills and undulating ground.
Boom technology has also been upgraded, with the BoomTrac Pro 2 height control system and active yaw control integrated into the new centre frame.
Booms up to 36m feature five ultrasonic sensors for ground and crop-canopy following.
