Farmhand, the Irish Krone importer, demonstrated the 430 GL model from Krone’s flagship ZX series in the forage wagon category at Grass 2026.
With a capacity of 43m3 the ZX 430 is the smallest of three model series. The larger ZX 470 and 560 models offer 47m3 and 56m3 capacities and are available in GL or GD formats.
GD machines feature rear discharge rotors which are not a common option in Irish and UK markets.
Features of the ZX series include a 2.1m hydraulic drive, camless pickup which features automatic on/off when raised and lowered, as well as automatic speed control, which adjusts the pickup speed relative to the tractors forward speed. The pickup reel is equipped with 6.5mm tines which have been arranged in a ‘W’ configuration.
Either the latest OptiGrass 37 or OptiGrass 28 chopping units can be specified, offering chop lengths of 37mm and 28mm from the respective 40- and 54-knife chopping units.
With minimal tools, the knife bank conveniently swings out to the left-hand side of the machine for maintenance.
All blades are then released via a central lever and can be replaced without the need for tools.
Central to the new chopping system is the integral rotor, which increases crop flow in the outer areas of the rotor.
This is done via the 22cm wide auger bodies at either end of the rotor which convey grass evenly towards the centre of the rotor for chopping.
Because the crop is compacted across the entire rotor, there is a more consistent chop and consistent wear across the full knife bank. The SplitCut system prevents uncut grass from entering the body and instead returns to the chopping unit.
The wide rotor is powered by an in-board planetary gearbox and a PowerBelt for maximum output lower maintenance.
Another new feature which Krone claims is unique is the two interchangeable pulleys.
These can be swapped quickly to adjust the processing speed, allowing the wagon to adapt to varying harvest conditions while still ensuring the space behind the rotor is always loaded to capacity for high pre-compression and optimum chopping quality.
The ZX series, like the RX is available in tandem- and tridem-axle setups and comes equipped with an articulated drawbar with height control and suspension as standard to improve operator comfort. Contactless electronic forced steering via Isobus is optionally available. As for control options, ZX models are available with a variety of control units, ranging from the DS 100 head unit to the premium-level Isobus CCI 800 and 1200 terminals.

IAM Agricultural Machinery, the Irish Strautmann importer, demonstrated the Zelon 290 from its entry level farmer aimed range alongside its flagship Magnon 11-430. The Zelon series comprises three models, 24m3 (Zelon 250), 28m3 (Zelon 290) and 35m3 (Zelon 360). Features include a 1.8m-wide camless pickup reel and a 37-knife exact-cut chopping unit, capable of achieving a theoretical chop length of 39mm.
Optionally available is the plastic-tined Flex-Load pickup. In addition to a fully steel floor, Zelon models benefit from the continuous flow system (CFS) found on the larger models.
Meanwhile, the Magnon 11-430 is the smallest model within the 11 series which spans from 43m3 to 53m3. The series claims a 22mm theoretical chop length, thanks to its 84-knife Exact Cut knife bank, 13mm shorter than the 52 knife chopping unit in the Magnon 10 series.
Elsewhere, the 11 series is identical to the 10 series and features the proven plastic tine Flex-Load pickup, CFS, solid steel floor and hydraulic or tandem chassis options with passive, mechanical forced or electronic forced steering options.
