Bekidoritzu is the Japanese word which loosely translates into English as productivity, according to Kverneland CEO and president Dai Watanabe.

He spoke at a recent press-conference introducing new products to the media gathered from all over Europe.

It was something Watanabe was keen to stress was built into their new products and innovations in their pre-Agritechnica launch.

More plough automation

The 2500 i-plough from Kverneland received a number of updates but the main ones were on its five- and six-furrow mounted model.

A popular size of plough in Ireland and across Europe, the biggest change here was the mid-mounted depth wheel and the automated sequence for going from work to transport mode and vice-versa.

The advantage of the mid-mounted depth wheel is the operator can now plough much closer to the field boundary. John Mulhall of Kverneland Group Ireland, said this was a request from the market.

“This technology also means working depth is easily adjustable from any ISOBUS terminal, not just from the Kverneland supplied terminal.”

When transport mode is selected, the plough is raised, rotates into the transport position, the transport wheel takes the weight of the plough and the headstock tips forward allowing the plough to follow the tractor like a trailer without the fish-tailing effect.

There is no need for any intervention from the operator, as the sequence is fully automated. From what we could see during the live demonstration, there was plenty of clearance under the wheel that swung underneath the plough in a smooth arc.

Mounted tine cultivator

The Kverneland turbo mounted cultivator was introduced as a machine for all seasons.

Previously only available in 6.5m and 8m working-widths, the tine cultivator is now available as a mounted machine in 3m, 3.5m, 4, 5m and 6m variants.

The two tine options are either C-shaped or S-shaped tines with a host of share options. These are arranged in four rows designed for maximum trash flow through the machine.

Under beam clearance is 725mm with five different finishing rollers available depending on soil type. Hydraulic depth control is fitted to the finishing roller.

Levelling paws or discs with mechanical depth control behind the tines give a smoother finish.

Mounted sprayers

Available for some years on the trailed range of sprayers, the iXflow-E circulation system is now available on the mounted sprayers along with electrically operated nozzle holders. The system is designed to maintain a pressurised spray line in the sprayer so there are no dead-ends during spraying or washing-out.

The other benefits of the system according to Leonard Hovenden of Kverneland Group Ireland is with the line pressurised from both ends, sedimentation is virtually eliminated and there is no loss of pressure or unequal flow between sections.

For those who want to increase the capacity of their spraying tractor, a front tank is available.

The iXtra front mounted tank has a maximum capacity of 1,300 litres and can be emptied in tandem with the rear sprayer to maintain weight distribution during work.

Spreaders

The two main updates to the Vicon spreaders were the GEOspread and new sieves with wider spacing for those wishing to spread organic material.

The GEOspread system divides the full spread width of the spreader into 2m sections for more accurate spreading of material across the working width of the machine.
