Growth in UK tractor market
June saw tractor registrations in the UK continue to show growth for the fourth month in a row. During the month of June, 1,187 machines were registered – this was a 14% increase on the same month in 2017. These figure relate to agricultural tractor over 50hp.
The growth in registrations means that for the first six months of the year, there has been a 6% rise in tractor sales to a total of 6530 unit – this is 400 units up on the same period in 2017.
Real-time satellite crop-watching
Soyl, a UK-based precision farming company, have taken crop monitoring to the next level with the use of satellite imagery to give close to real-time information about the biomass content of the crop. This is basically the density of the crop. It collects this data almost in real time and then compares the differing biomass levels across crops.
This data, when it is layered with other precision data, is then available give the grower a better platform to make decisions. Mysoyl is the user interface for the grower and allows them to input yield maps and other on-farm information, which is then combined with this new technology and previously available tools on the site to improve decision-making.
Augmented reality
Vaderstad app
Vaderstad has released an app which allows farmers to view its machines in a very different way than just in a brochure.
With the free app downloaded, you can just point the camera at a special QR type code on the paper brochure and an exploded view of the assembly or a video showing how that mechanism works will show on the app.
This allows the farmer to get a better understanding of how the machine works and is put together using just a paper brochure and their smart device.
Expanding the Fendt experience
For sales partners, customers and other target groups, Fendt Forum in Marktoberdorf is the gateway to the Fendt world. It houses the showrooms, the Fendt shop, the Diesel Ross restaurant and is the starting point for every factory tour.
With the third section of the Fendt Forum opened in October 2013, construction work on the next phase starts in July 2018 and will see the Forum’s showroom quadruple in size.
The new exhibition and function hall will span 2,500 sq m and measure more than 14m from floor to ceiling. The entrance gateway is about 6m tall, plenty big enough for any machine to pass through.
Over the past few years, the Fendt brand has developed into a true full-line provider.
Since the Forum was last extended in 2013, the Fendt machine portfolio has grown considerably with forage harvesting solutions, round balers, loading wagons, plant protection solutions and tracked tractors.
We also brought in new heavy duty machines including the Fendt IDEAL combine and the world’s largest standard tractor, the Fendt 1000 Vario.
