One of the more notable launches at Kuhn’s French press event near its Monswiller site in Alsace was the brand-new Karan range of flagship trailed sprayers. With the model name Karan, Kuhn says that its engineering developed the Karan completely from the ground up, featuring over 90% new components when compared to any existing models.

The range features a brand new 220l/min induction hopper with CTS (Closed Transfer System) technology available.

The Karan is said to be offered in three specification levels, low, medium and high-end although official names remain undecided.

The Karan is available with spray tanks from 4,500l to 8,000l and boom widths ranging from 18 to 45m. A new generation of XEA3 aluminium booms from Pommier are available for 50cm and 25cm nozzle spacings.

The Diluset model is equipped in a single pump configuration, with a filling capacity of 900l/min and a spraying capacity of 500l/min. Offered above the Manuset manual valve management system, it allows full automation of valve management for filling, agitation and rinsing cycles as well as a twin pump setup. A fully automated Autoset version with a tandem pump setup will be offered in due course. The agitation hopper alone is brand new in design and can process up to 220l/min of liquid and is ready for CTS (Closed Transfer System) technology whereby the contents of a canister can be poured into the sprayers tank without opening its lid.

Boom sizes range from 18m to 45m with aluminum booms supplied by Pommier.

Eagle is a new boom guidance system developed for stable spraying at application speeds of up to 25km/h and application heights of 30cm. For those requiring individual nozzle control, Kuhn can offer its Autospray pulse width modulation nozzles.

The Karan can be equipped with mechanical (leaf spring) or hydropneumatics axle suspension (with load compensation). A new steering axle allows for a turning angle of up to 28 degrees and larger tyres. Meanwhile, a central tyre system (CTIS) can be fitted. A new patented pump disassembly process has been added which sees the spray pump able to be removed in under five minutes for maintenance.
