Low-cost German-built slurry separator

Kilkenny machinery distributor Castle Agri debuted the new Moscha slurry separator last week. The new Moscha slurry separator is positioned between the slurry tank and the slurry tanker. The system is operated during the vacuuming phase, as the slurry is sucked through the separator and into the tanker, almost like an in-line filter.

The hydraulic motor on the separator squeezes out the liquid, with this motor powered by the tractor’s own spool valve. Slurry is separated pre-entry into the tanker. The unit sits in line between the slurry tanker and the slurry tank, with the slurry tanker connecting to its outlet. Moscha claims separation speeds of up to 2,000l/min.

However, output will depend on the type of slurry and how well agitated it is. The sieve is available from 2mm to 7mm, while Moscha claims that the screw press auger has a power consumption with an oil volume of 10-15l/min. The unit is priced at €10,000 plus VAT.

McHale debuts flagship twin-rotor rake

McHale is expanding its twin-rotor rake range and introduced the new flagship R80-90 at the Ploughing. This is the largest rake in the range with a working width of 8m to 9m (26’ 3” to 29’ 6”).

Like the rest of the McHale rakes, the new R80-90 is equipped with a number of novel features as standard such as rotor height adjustment, tine arm cam adjustment, hydraulic width adjustment and individual rotor lift. Similar to all the McHale rakes, the driveline flows through a wide-angle gearbox to the individual rotors.

The rotors are suspended centrally using heavy duty springs and both rotors operate at equal ground pressures across the working width.

The variable working width is adjusted hydraulically by the telescoping arms from the tractor seat.

All tine arms are fitted with tine end savers which means if a tine breaks it will not fall into the crop. For transport, the rotors fold to a transport height under four meters. The rake is equipped as standard with mudguards, lights and 380/55 -17 tyres. The transport running gear is approved for 40 km/h. The unit is priced at €33,500 plus VAT.

Abbey Machinery adds nurse tank

Abbey Machinery introduced a new nurse tank to the firm’s range at the Ploughing. A first for the Tipperary manufacturer, the nurse tank is initially offered in one size, with a 65m3 capacity.

Abbey says that the nurse tank complements its slurry range by enabling efficient and continuous spreading. It reduces downtime and allows operators to work in areas that are otherwise inaccessible to tankers or slurry sources.

The unit is fitted with four emptying points (two front and two rear), the unit has two fill points. The slurry is discharged via a Doda pump which features a stone trap and ‘T’ piece pipe work.

The nurse tank comes with a hydraulic lift axle and hydraulic drawbar, while an access ladder (for internal maintenance) comes as standard. It features one full-length sight tube on the front and four sight glasses at the back.

Kitted out with work lights (double lights high and low at rear), the unit features an overall length of 10.66m and an overall width of 2.95m.

Kverneland displays 3m one-pass

The new 3m Saterra one-pass drill made its first Irish public appearance on the Kverneland Group Ireland stand this week. This new generation of one-pass mounted seed drills from Kverneland replaces the popular DA and S drill models.

The new and refreshed Saterra range is available in 3m and 4m working widths and builds on the heritage of its predecessors. The Saterra range is fitted with the well-known CX-II coulters, which together with the brand’s specific disc shape allow individual pressures up to 50kg.

For those looking to keep costs down, the CX-II coulters can be bought without press wheels. Instead, Kverneland claims that the curved-disc design provides sufficient bearing capacity in light conditions, while saving weight.

The use of flexible coulter brackets allows operators to choose and adjust the sowing distance from the preset 12.5cm and 25cm spacings.

The Saterra offers a hopper capacity of 750l or 1,000l, while the mechanical metering system allows seed rates from two to 380kg/ha, while accommodating all seed sizes.

A full range of optional equipment is available such as pre-emergence markers and following harrows, etc.
