Gardaí investigating an outbreak of a gorse fire in Co Donegal on Good Friday arrested a man on Thursday this week. The fire caused “considerable damage” to a house in the Drumnacart and Annagry area. Damage was also caused to a tractor and various other items on the properties. No injuries were reported.
In a statement, An Garda Síochána said that the man arrested was “detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Milford Garda Station and has since been released without charge. A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.”
The investigation commenced following an outbreak of gorse fire in west Donegal on 19 April 2019 between the hours of 1pm and 10.30pm. The investigation is ongoing, the gardaí said.
