Mitsubishi Motors in Ireland has announced the specification details of the new L200 double cab pick-up, which is due in Ireland at the end of August. The new model comes with a revitalised design that aims to give the 4x4 pick-up a more powerful appearance.

This latest L200 will be available in 3 trims, Business (Manual), Intense (Manual or Automatic) and Instyle (Automatic). Entry prices start from €35,000 for the manual drive Business version, a significant 15% price increase over the previous model.

The new pick-up comes with a new 2.2 litre turbo-diesel engine that claims improved fuel economy and low CO2 emissions, while meeting the latest strict Euro-led temp emissions standards. It comes with the option of a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox, the latter of which claims best fuel economy. Towing rating is 3.1 tonnes for a braked trailer.

Opel delivers most efficient Astra ever

The new generation Opel Astra, mentioned last week, claims to set standards for efficiency and low emissions. Compared with the previous model, Opel claims that the CO2 has been cut by up to 19%, putting the Astra at the top of the compact class.

This new Astra is 200kg lighter than it’s predecessor, and uses new technologies from higher classes to set new efficiency benchmarks. It comes with a choice of new generation efficient and lightweight petrol and diesel engines.

These engines already meet Euro 6d standards. The new emission requirements comes into effect for all new registrations in 2021. The all-aluminium diesel and petrol engines are equipped as standard with fuel-saving stop/start technology.

Tesla’s Model 3 now in Ireland

Tesla in Ireland has recently begun accepting orders for Model 3. The Irish configurator from the Tesla website www.tesla.ie /com/en_IE allows the electric car models to be sourced on-line, including the Model 3 AWD Performance and RWD in Standard Range Plus.

The entry level Tesla Model 3 starts at €48,900. First deliveries for reservation holders will begin in July, and will be prioritised based reservation date and configuration option.

Model 3 is Tesla’s smaller, simpler, more affordable car. It is designed and built as the world’s first mass-market electric vehicle, and is a critical step in Tesla’s mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.

Renault refreshes the Captur

Renault has updated the exterior styling of the Captur compact SUV, basing the new model on a platform that claims to give the car strength and agility to help deliver improved fuel economy.

Renault claims that the new Captur is technologically significant, as it meets the three pillars of mobility for the future, as detailed in the company’s strategic plan; electric-powered, connected and full driver autonomy. Renault aims to have 15 models equipped with some form of autonomous driving technology by 2022.
