Teams from Cork, Kilkenny, Meath and Laois took home titles last week when the All-Ireland finals of the NDC basketball and Kerrygold club question time quiz took place in Dublin.

Kinsale Macra, Seandun, Cork, won first place at the quiz showing their general knowledge and grace under pressure.

The quiz took place in the Irish Farm Centre on Saturday 19 March. In second place was Kilkenny City Macra and in third was Meath’s Athboy Macra.

The following day, at the NDC basketball final, Terelton Macra, Muskerry, Co Cork, took home the title in the women’s category, while Slieve Bloom Macra, Co Laois, took home the men’s title. Runners-up were Whitechurch Macra, Seandun, Cork, in the women’s category and Mitchelstown Macra, Avondhu, Cork, in the men’s category. The competition took place in the ALSAA Centre in Dublin.

The winning team members have won themselves a place on the annual prize-winners’ trip in the autumn.

Macra national president Seán Finan said: “It was a great weekend of competitions for Macra showing the diversity of activities. There is something for everyone in Macra, whether you like sports, drama, public speaking, agriculture or you like to demonstrate your general knowledge. Well done to all the members who took part and represented their counties exceptionally well.”
