An 11-month-old heifer bred by John McEnroe, Oldcastle, Co Meath, commanded a bid of €2,500 at the Irish Aberdeen Angus Association’s elite calf sale.
Liss Blarney Maid M402, is an ET daughter of Carrington Park Time On, bred from the Bunlahy Bandit daughter Liss Blarney Maid H886. She sold to John Furey from Derravilla, Edenderry, Co Offaly.
Mr Furey also paid €2,400 for Meeno Kane, a September 2013-born bull calf from Matthew and Rita Goulding, and sons David and Jack, from Ballyduff, Tralee, Co Kerry. He is sired by Coneyisland Legend and his dam is the homebred Dalrene Cruz 11f daughter Goulding Perry H355.
The next highest price was €2,350 for the nine-month-old heifer Goulding L Perry 603, which caught the eye of Michael Culkeen from Gortnagoyne, Dunmore, Co Galway. She is by Nightingale El Paso J489, and out of Goulding Dazzling Perry ET. This eye-catching heifer was junior champion at the association’s all-Ireland final, held at Mohill Show in August.
Netherton Mr Brazilian E377 was behind the breeding of Creagh Petal Orla N067, which came under the hammer of auctioneer Pat Cahill at €2,000. Born in April 2013, she was consigned by David Jones, Kenagh, Co Longford, and is out of a homebred dam by Cahirmee Westy. The buyer was Paul Daly, Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath.
