This weekend sees one of the largest sheep sales of the autumn take place in Blessington Mart on Friday and Saturday, where the country’s best Texel sheep will convene for the 2025 premier show and sale. There are 270 rams entered in this weekend’s sale, along with 100 ewes.
The show will take place on Friday 8 August at 1pm, with Andrew Porter from the Saltcotes flock in the UK tasked with the difficult job of selecting the best from a big selection of stock.
The female sale kicks off at 6pm that evening. The ram sale kicks off at 10.30am on Saturday 9 August.

Ringside and online bidding is available, with Northern Ireland-based customers asked to register with the mart 48 hours before the sale.
