Females stole the show in the Angus classes at the FBD National Livestock Show in Tullamore on Sunday 10 August, winning the supreme champion and reserve overall champion titles.

Judge for the event was James Rea from Northern Ireland, who is currently managing the Chapelton herd in the UK.

Lifting the overall Angus championship was the first-calved two-year-old cow Mogeely Elana Z895 for the Mariga family in Co Cork.

Shown alongside her bull calf, Elana was purchased at the recent Mogeely dispersal sale and is a daughter of Drumbeera Everest and Tomriland Elana R287.

Rea found his reserve overall champion in the reserve female champion Luddenmore Ellen Erica, a rising two-year-old daughter of the herd's stock bull Drumhill Lord Hampstead.

Exhibited by Michael Sheahan from Co Limerick, Erica has conquered a number of local shows in the south this summer.

Bred in Co Leitrim by Cathal and Cormac Duignan, Virgo is a November 2022-born son of the high-performance UK sire Rawburn Boss Hogg.
