Limousin

  • Numbers of bulls through the ring at most sales increased for the Limousin breed in 2017. Despite this, most sales, particularly society-run ones, saw an increase. This ranged from a €19 increase at the premier in February to €341 at the Roscommon sale in May.
  • Most of these sales also saw clearances of 80% or more.
  • Ampertaine Foreman sired the most bulls who sold for the average price or more. €4,082 average for 11 bulls sold.
  • Six AI bulls sired a minimum of three bulls that averaged €4,000 or more. Two of these were sons of Wilodge Tonka (Kaprico Eravelle, Wilodge Cerberus), while a further two were grandsons (Ampertaine Foreman, Wilodge Goldcard).
  • A direct son of Wilodge Tonka also sold for €10,800 at the March premier.
  • Overall, 105 young bulls sired by bulls standing in AI were sold for the average price or higher at their respective sales.
  • These 105 bulls sold to average €4,025.

  • Foreman stood reserve overall champion at Carlisle February 2012 before selling for 38,000gns. His 11 bulls which sold for the average or more this season in Ireland, sold for a combined figure of €44,902. Foreman’s sire Wilodge Cerberus sold for 50,000gns and was also one of the standouts this year, selling seven bulls at an average price of €4,214.
