The National Dairy Council (NDC) will be returning to Bord Bia Bloom, taking place on the June bank holiday weekend.

This year celebrates 60 years of NDC and its garden will host several talks and discussions from Ireland’s top sports stars, broadcasters, weather experts, futurists and scientists.

As part of this, it has launched a competition for primary and secondary school students in search of future farmers to feature on a panel.

"It's a challenging time for farming and it's always good to look at the next generation who have optimism and may see things in a different way to those currently doing the job.

"It's not just for kids living on farms, it is open to everyone who wants to be a farmer," says NDC schools programme manager Sinead Whelan.

Are you a future farmer?

NDC is inviting future farmers from schools around the country to tell them why they want to be farmers and participate in a special panel discussion at Bloom.

It is asking students what excites them about farming and where they see farming going in the future.

The winners will get a €150 One4All Voucher and participate in the panel on Friday 30 May. The winning class from the EU schools milk schemes programme run by NDC will be brought to Bloom to listen to the talk.

To enter, students can send a video, voice note, essay or poster to here or on Instagram @ndc_ie.

The reason there are so many different ways of entering is to make it inclusive for everyone.
