There will be some new commercial classes at this year’s Tullamore Show, with the highlight being new weight divisions for calves.

A new 276kg to 350kg class has been added for male calves, while a 251kg to 320kg class has been added for females.

This adds to the already key classes the show catalogues including the Dawn Meats €2,000 factory heifer championship, Moyvalley Meats €2,000 factory bullock championship and Kepak championship for the beef factory animal of the future.

Altogether the commercial cattle section will feature a very full schedule comprising 13 calf classes, 12 senior cattle classes and two young handler classes.

The commercial cattle section is a major element within the Tullamore Show and FBD National Livestock Show. The commercial cattle section has grown from strength to strength, now attracting a prize fund of €20,000

The spectators and exhibitors will be watching keenly as the three judges make their deliberations throughout the day.
