While the balers will not be on display at the forthcoming FTMTA Farm Machinery Show in Punchestown, Naas, Co. Kildare at the start of February, the Norwegian Orkel designed balers are part of a fresh attach by New Holland at the Irish round baler market.

There are three models in the new baler line-up, featuring the standard Roll Baler 125, and two combination baler-wrapper models and prices start from €52,470 for the entry level standard baler. The Roll Baler 125 Combi and the Roll Baler 135 Ultra offers new models to the yellow range in terms of bale density and wrapping flexibility.

The entry Roll Baler 125 models come with a 2.1m wide pick-up while a wider 2.2m working width pick-up is used for the Roll Baler 135. The pick-up systems are fitted with five tine bars which, New Holland claims, gives positive contact with the crop and provides an even flow to prevent clogging. The 470mm diameter pick-up rotor features 10mm thick tines.

The Roll Baler range uses 18 individual 200mm diameter solid rollers for bale formation.

New Holland claims that the aggressive profile of the rollers maintains contact with the crop, independent of crop type and condition, for dense core formation and uniform filling.

less stress

It also claims that as the bale weight is equally spread across the entire circumference of the chamber during formation, there is less stress on the baler structure, giving less excessive loading points. New Holland claims to have extended roller working life by using wear-resistant material in the rollers.

The New Holland Roll Baler 125 Combi and the Roll Baler 135 Ultra are aimed at the contractor market. They can use both traditional net wrap and film wrap.

The in-cab operator’s monitor controls bale density, pto speed, net/film indication, manual and automatic tying selection and even the number of wraps per bale.

The balers are fitted with a bale counter unit that can store up to 50 individual customers’ bale counts to allow for monitoring of the yield per field.

All tyre configurations comply with the stringent 3m transport width restriction. Super wide, 500 x 22.5 flotation tyres are available on the Roll Baler 125. The Roll Baler 125 Combi and the Roll Baler 135 Ultra are fitted with 55/50R17 tyres.

New Holland claims that the new baler cover designs make for easy servicing. The single piece, lightweight front shield provides access to all servicing and lubrication points.

New Holland claims to have applied its new baler numbering strategy to make the baler’s performance immediately obvious. The numbers, either 125 or 135, denote the bale diameter in centimetres. ‘Combi’ indicates a combination baler-wrapper and the 135 ‘Ultra’ emphasises this model’s heavy duty baling and wrapping profile.
