Callan Bacon has agreed a deal to buy the Worcestershire-based Stirchley Bacon Company.

The Dealer spoke to Callan Bacon boss John Walshe on Wednesday, who confirmed the deal. Walshe said the deal will help boost the Irish pork and pigmeat sector.

“It’s a 100% acquisition deal and will help us develop a foothold in the UK food-service sector. We needed more clout in the food-service sector across the water and this will deliver on that … it’s going to mean more products going from here across to the UK. It’s a good deal for us, it’s a good deal for our clients and it’s a good deal for our farmer suppliers,” Walshe said.
