The wellies and the water proofs can be left in the shed for now at least as the hot weather has heralded in some farm-fashion changes.

I’ve noticed it’s not just dairy farmers who spent time in New Zealand who are opting to wear shorts these days and there’s a few pros and cons to farmers showing a bit more leg these days.

They’re great for keeping cool but it’s an extra bit that needs the sun screen put on and as I found out to my detriment, horse flies, briars, thistles and nettles now have a greater area to aim for too. Added to that there’s an increased risk of being splattered on while at the mart.

Now there’s a pro to that too because you can wash any dirt off your leg before lodging cheques or the like.
