I hear Stradbally Cove was the place to be last Saturday as Comeragh Veterinary hosted Cross the Cove, a swimming fundraiser for Vets Without Borders Ireland.

Glorious sunshine, sea swimming, refreshments and live music brought veterinary colleagues, friends and supporters together for a great cause.

Organised by practice owner Chris McGrath, the event combined team building with an opportunity to support the charity’s international work.

Vets Without Borders Ireland supports veterinary and community development projects in Nepal, Bangladesh and Malawi, helping small-scale livestock farmers access essential animal healthcare and strengthen their livelihoods.

Originally established in Ireland in 1999 as Volunteers in Irish Veterinary Assistance (VIVA), under the stewardship of the late Co Longford veterinarian Brendan Mimnagh, the charity is now part of the international Vétérinaires Sans Frontières network.
