August saw the longest partial drought on record, which was recorded at Oak Park in Carlow, Met Éireann has confirmed.
The partial drought began on Saturday 20 June and continued until Monday 24 August, lasting 66 days.
The previous longest partial drought on record was 62 days at Roches Point, Co Cork, in the summer of 1983.
Last month was the ninth-warmest on record since 1900, with a mean temperature of 16.27°C.
Temperatures
Four stations in the midlands and east broke their August maximum temperature record on Wednesday 12 August.
The highest temperature recorded during August was 31.2°C at Casement Aerodrome in Dublin.
Three of the 10 warmest Augusts have occurred since 2001, while none of the 10 coolest have occurred in that period.
The warmest August was in 1995 (31 years ago) and the coolest was in 1912 (114 years ago).
