China puts 11.9% tax on dairy products sold online
China has introduced restrictions as well as a 11.9% tax on online dairy sales, according to the UK’s Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB).
€14m worth of liquid milk was left with no home last week.

The authorities are placing restrictions on products which were previously allowed to enter the country, causing confusion within the dairy sector. Products were left in no man’s land last week, with no home for €14m worth of liquid milk.
Milk powder and UHT products have now been allowed enter the country after been stopped at the border when the measures were first announced.
Infant formula

On the other hand, infant formula producers have been given a year to register their products or these products will not be allowed to enter China.
With over 30% of infant formula sales in China taking place online there, the tax on this trade will bring imported infant formula prices into line with those foe similar products sold directly in China.
