The mood among producers was positive towards the promotion’s efforts. However, those with cold stored material are angry at current returns, which leave little margin. Despite record low acreages and reduced stocks, it continues to be the retailers and middlemen who are profiting. In the southwest, crops of Golden Wonder and Kerr’s Pink still in the ground will have high losses due to waterlogging, with some fields completely written off.
