I'm not confident my daughter's marriage is going to last, should I delay transferring the farm to her?
Agri solicitor Aisling Meehan answers this question and offers key advice to farmers who are not confident that a son or daughter's marriage will last.
She explains that the farm would become part of the assets which are available to be shared if a divorce were to occur.
She added that there can be a distinction made between matrimonial assets and inherited assets in court. The priority is that provisions are made for the ex-spouse and/or children.
"If there isn't much in the pot, then everything is up for grabs," Aisling says.
