The farm, which covers 28,645 acres, is located near the town of Ogallala in western Nebraska. It lies adjacent to Lake McConaughy and includes 3,647 acres of irrigated land, 11,705 acres of dry land farm and 13,293 acres of ranch land.

The property was sold for $37.5m (€35.5m) on Thursday 1 December by Hall and Hall Auctions in Ogallala.

Thomas Land Company was built up over nearly two decades by Michael and Lola Thomas. Mrs Thomas decided to offer the land for sale following the death of her husband, who was a native of western Nebraska.
