In protest at the low prices farmers are being forced to accept by supermarkets, sheep farmers from across Wales have vowed to stop selling lamb this week.

They claim that prices paid for lambs have fallen by a shocking 30%in the past 12 months, with supermarkets not passing on these savings to customers.

The campaign, which encourages all British sheep farmers to refuse to sell lamb from 1 to 7 August, has taken to Twitter with the aim of rallying support using the slogan #NoLambWeek.

The idea was devised by a group of farmers attending the Royal Welsh Show last week.

Farming unions have not yet become involved in the protest.
