November milk supply is up compared with the same period last year.

The country’s largest processor, Glanbia, has reported to the Irish Farmers Journal that its supplies are up by 6% for November 2017 versus 2016.

Aurivo reports monthly milk volumes up 20% on last year, Kerry is up by 16%, while Lakeland reports volumes up 23%.

In west Cork, Drinagh reports supplies up by 12%, with Barryroe about the same as last year. The country’s second largest co-op, Dairygold, is up by 9% for November.

Nationally, November milk volumes in 2016 were 350m litres. Essentially, our survey results show higher milk prices mean more Irish farmers are continuing to milk into November and December this year despite the mid-October storms that reduced supplies in the south.
