The PPI for September is 114.3, which is up from 111.0 in August.

A PPI of 114.3 equates to a milk price of 32.9c/l (excluding VAT)

Ornua says the PPI “reflects higher butter and cheddar returns, offset by lower whey prices and stable SMP returns”.

The 114.3 PPI is the highest it has been since August 2014, just before the Russian food ban.

The milk price at the time was 30.5c/l (ex VAT).

Irish co-ops will start setting September milk prices in the coming days.
