• John Dalton of Daltons, Co Kilkenny, is the new president of the Irish Seed Trade Association (ISTA). He takes over from Tom Bryan of Boortmalt and will serve a two-year term as ISTA president. He is managing director of John Dalton & Sons Ltd, Chancellors Mills, for over 25 year, and is a former president of Irish Grain and Feed Association (IGFA). He remains a committee member of IGFA. He is also a board member of the Cereal Association of Ireland. Jim Gibbons of Germinal Seeds is the new vice president.

  • Seamus O’Mahony left Barryroe co-op earlier this year to take up the position of supplier development manager with Dairygold.

  • I’m told that Professor of Agriculture and Food Economics at UCD Alan Renwick is soon to leave these shores to take up a professorship position at Lincoln University in New Zealand. Renwick had strong views on the CAP and the need to move towards a more market-orientated agriculture system.
