The new TOP 1403 C is a new offering within Pöttinger’s professional grassland line. Like its smaller brother (the TOP 1252), the new 1403 C is fitted with what the Austrian manufacturer describes as a unique hybrid drive technology. The front two rotors are driven hydraulically while the two rear rotors are mechanically driven.

Rotor weight alleviation is similar, hydraulic on the front and mechanical on the rear. The degree of weight alleviation is automatically adjusted depending on the set working width. Pöttinger says this exerts less pressure on the rotor units leading to less wear and tear.

Overlap control

The TOP 1403 C is fitted with automatic overlap control as standard. So, for example when cornering, the front inside rotor is pushed inwards according to the angle of the headstock and set swath width. This ensures overlapping of the rear rotor. Once out of the corner and the machine has straightened up, the rotor pushes back out automatically. The operator is kept informed via the cabs control terminal of the when the overlapping function is engaged and the working width is adjusted.

The hybrid drive system means the front two rotors are hydraulically driven and the rear two are mechanically driven.

Each rotors is fitted with a five wheel chassis as standard for good ground tracking. The Proven Multitask wheel on each allows the rotors to run smoother over all types of undulations. Each tandem axle and rotors inclination can be adjusted.

The two front rotors can be hydraulically adjusted either together or separately. Each rotor’s castor wheels have been designed so that working width can be adjusted on the go.

With a maximum working width of 14m, the rake can be hydraulically adjusted from 9m to 14m.
