Austrian manufacturer Pöttinger has recently added to its power harrow line up, with the addition of Lion 403 C and Lion 503 C folding models for tractors up to 320hp.

According to Pöttinger, special attention during development was placed on ease of operation, flexibility and future requirements.

One area that was focused on, the company says, is the operators ability to make all machine settings and adjustments from the side of the machine.

The headstock and folding frame are mounted to the machine, keeping its overall dimensions compact and short. This has shifted the centre of gravity closer to the tractor's rear axle for traction purposes. Both the 4.0m and 5.0m models fold to a width of 2.55m for road transport.

Flexibility

According to the manufacturer, the modular design of the Lion 403 C and 503 C means that either model can be combined with a coulter rail and front-mounted seed hopper allowing the unit to become a high output drilling solution. The Irish Farmers Journal recently reported on the new Aerosem FDD pneumatic drill and front seed hopper from Pöttinger.

The Lion 403 C power harrow, fitted with the new Aerosem FDD seed drill and front hopper combination, was recently put to work in Co Carlow.

Both Lion power harrow models operate with four rotors per metre of working width, which Pottinger say makes wide working widths possible with smaller horsepower tractors. The rear roller automatically adjusts the levelling board, completely independent of working depth. A wide range of rear rollers are available depending on preference. Both tooth packer and prism rollers are available in two different diameters.
