Auctioneer, Joseph Coogan has a 55.7ac holding in Co Kilkenny that may provide an opportunity for local farmers looking to ease any concerns driven by uncertainty about the nitrates derogation.

Going for public auction at the end of November, the land at Coolroe, Thomastown is all in one block and is it is laid out in seven divisions. Six of these, consisting of 40.8ac, is described as prime agricultural land that is presently in permanent pasture while the balance of the farm, 14.9ac is under old mature woodland plantation.

The property has its own water supply and also benefits from having about 250m of frontage to old public road. This land is less than 10 minutes’ drive from both Inistioge and Thomastown while Kilkenny city is another 23km away.

Auctioneer, Joseph Coogan said: “It’s a good firm bit of land and there’s been good interest to date in it. We’re guiding it at €8,500/ac.”
