The National Hereford Calf Show takes place on Sunday 11 November in the Show Arena at GVM Marts, Tullamore.

In its fifth year, the event showcases the very best Hereford calves in the country and offers spectators a chance to view the newest horned and polled genetics available in Ireland.

Largest entry to date

This year’s show will see its largest entry to date, with 119 calves competing across 11 classes to be crowned best in breed.

There will also be a commercial class of Hereford-sired calves under 450kg, as well as two young handler classes which will kick the event off on Sunday morning.

This promises to be a great day viewing for all livestock fanatics

The judge for this year’s show is well-known Limousin breeder William Smith from Oldcastle, Co Meath.

William runs the very successful Millbrook herd and is no stranger to show ring success, having bred a string of champions. Mr Smith is also a former Hereford breeder.

This year’s event will also have the peoples champion. This calf will be selected by the ringside spectators and full details will be outlined on the day.

This promises to be a great day's viewing for all livestock fanatics, with everyone welcome to attend the free weekend. Judging begins at 10am.
