Tipperary-based Anner Agri is importing the UK-manufactured big fertiliser bag handler and cutting attachment. The unit is manufactured by Agriweld, a small engineering firm in Yorkshire.

Loading and emptying half-tonne bags of fertiliser into spreaders is a slow and dangerous job.

The ABC big-bag cutter is designed to provide a safe and fully automated cutting system capable of carrying and emptying seed/fertiliser bags. It can carry either two or four half-tonne bags and cut them open automatically over the spreader/drill by means of two retractable knives.

The twin model can handle four 600kg bags or two 1,000kg bags, while the single model handles two 600kg bags or one 1,000kg bag.

Safety

The attachment allows the loader driver to load and empty the bags without leaving the cab, avoiding the risk of being trapped under a bag or coming into contact with fertiliser dust. The arms can be also be folded to allow safer transport.

The ABC bag cutter is available with brackets to suit any loader. The whole operation of the implement is fed using one double-acting valve. The process is sequenced so that the knives retract once the bag has emptied in order for the next bag to slide into position.

The twin model can handle four 600kg bags or two 1,000kg bags, while the single model handles two 600kg bags or one 1,000kg bag.

The single unit is priced at €4,300 plus VAT, while the twin model will set you back €6,400 plus VAT.
