There is no change in the sheep trade this week with factories continuing to offer an opening price ranging in the main from €8.10/kg to €8.20/kg for quality-assured lambs.
Groups and regular sellers are in cases securing higher returns of €8.25/kg to €8.30/kg with supplies finely balanced with demand.
Last week’s kill figure was recorded at 40,535 head, similar to the previous week and running in line with the corresponding week in 2025.
The kill includes about 1,300 more ewes and 1,300 fewer lambs compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
Ewe prices are also unchanged with a wide differential in quotes from €4.30/kg all the way to €5/kg.
Meanwhile lamb quotes in Northern Ireland have steadied following last week’s dip of 10p/kg to 15p/kg.
Base quotes for Thursday are £6.85/kg (€7.97/kg).
Throughput is holding steady but exports to Ireland and Britain are down by over 1,800 head.
