Slurry equipment manufacturer, SlurryKat will unveil a green bedding material at this year’s Ploughing. While there have been many green bedding materials on the market for a number of years, some have demonstrated poor performance as the dry matter was not high enough to replace traditional bedding methods such as chopped straw or wood shavings.

Popularity

Green bedding is becoming increasingly popular in Ireland and the UK.

In Holland, green bedding has been used for the past number of years with more than 5,000 farms converted.

The new Doda green bedding system from SlurryKat offers environmental and economic benefits, as well as increasing the health and well-being of the livestock, according to the company. This system achieves a dry matter of approximately 50%.

What makes the Doda system different from other systems on the market is that it has a unique blower system on the discharge of the screw press, this lifts the dry matter of the material by approximately 10% and produces an attractive fluffy bedding material that is super absorbent.

Compact

The Doda system is extremely compact and can be easily installed on any farm, according to the company.

Additionally, an automated premixing system can be added if required for the raw slurry, while the whole system is independently controlled by an automated control panel which can be set to the farm’s individual needs.

Another unique feature is that the main components of the system are manufactured in 100% stainless steel for long service life in aggressive corrosive material.

The system can been seen at the SlurryKat stand number 501, row 23 block two.
