Soils remain saturated nationwide and are not expected to recover this week, especially after heavy rain in numerous counties over the last week.

Met Éireann has warned that soils in areas of the west and north of the country are likely to get worse.

Many counties along the western seaboard received double the normal rainfall amounts in the seven days to 23 January.
